Faraday Mod for the Asterisk


JonJon from the Plover Discord made a wonderful modification to the Asterisk keyboard. He added rubber key pads and wrapped the rubber pads with Faraday tape to make it conductive. This apparently makes the stroking experience on the Asterisk better.

Here are the steps according to JonJon:

"

1) Cut a keypad to size
2) Cut a piece of tape to match the shape, but with extra material to fold underneath the keypad
3) Cut excess tape off the corners
4) Remove adhesive cover from tape and apply the tape to the top of the keypad
5) Remove adhesive cover from the keypad
6) Fold all sides of the tape onto the adhesive side of the keypad
7) Attach to keyboard

"

It takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete this modification.

You can buy rubber keytops from places like Stenoworks. You can buy Faraday tape from Amazon.

It also helps to wrap the tape around the board to make it stick.
